Petchey Academy – Teaching Walls - Brookhouse

Petchey Academy had seen examples of teaching walls that Brookhouse had previously fitted and thought that this was the perfect solution for them. They were looking to have four teaching walls installed in classrooms including their new Food Technology room that Brookhouse were refurbishing.

The walls needed to utilise as much of the available wall space as possible and also incorporate a desk area for the teacher. Storage capacity was very important as the rooms needed to become much more organised and tidy than previously so this needed to be part of the design.

One wall was required as a trial early in 2022, with a further 4 to be installed during the Summer holidays.

Improved Storage and Organisation

How Brookhouse Optimised Wall Space and Storage for Petchey Academy

Brookhouse designed the teaching walls in a glossy white finish which complements the room colours and has a stylish appearance.

The walls feature a large central whiteboard with clever sliding panels, coloured ‘Gratnell’ trays for maximum storage capacity and use of space with lockable cupboards on either side.

Décor panels ensure that the finish is sleek and aesthetically pleasing. An integral teacher’s desk which came off the end of the wall was included too. Petchey Academy were delighted with the results and following on from the first installation, they received funding for the further 4 walls.

Both the teachers and students were delighted and all commented on how much better the rooms were for teaching and learning.

2. Design Brief Workshop

We host a collaborative workshop with your key stakeholders to capture the vision, budget, and any technical or safeguarding requirements. This ensures your goals shape every stage of the design.

3. Space Planning & 2D Layouts

Our in-house design team produces 2D plans with up to three revisions, ensuring the layout is functional and fully compliant with educational or commercial standards.

4. Mood Boards & Finishes Selection

We propose tailored finishes and materials in a dedicated mood board considering durability, hygiene, aesthetics, and future maintenance - all aligned to your brand or building identity.

5. 3D Visuals & Walkthroughs

Using Autodesk Revit and 3D modelling, we provide sketches, renders, and even virtual walkthroughs (where required) - helping you visualise the finished space and avoid late-stage surprises.

6. Furniture & Specification Schedule

You receive a full FF&E specification and product schedule covering fitted joinery, loose furniture, and specialist equipment. This is so you know exactly what you’re getting, and where.

7. Full Fit-Out & Project Delivery

Once approved, we manufacture and install everything from flooring and ceilings to plumbing, furniture and final decoration. We deliver a complete turnkey space with no need for third parties.

8. Handover & Ongoing Support

After completion, we conduct a full handover and walkthrough, with warranty support and optional aftercare packages available. Your space is ready from day one - and supported long after.
