Design & Technology Classroom Layouts

A design & technology workspace needs to be multi-functional as it will host a wide range of art and design educational activities.

Large work surfaces give students the opportunity to undertake some “big” creative thinking.

Good classroom flow is essential to enable students to participate in group work as well as individual pieces of design work.

Our furniture and storage designs take into account the use of the full range of materials and tools for student creativity.

We can design and fit out art and design classrooms with equipment to cover a full range of activities:

  • Research & Evaluation – Clean spaces with large tables and networked computers for design, research  and report writing

  • Creative Work – Large worksurfaces for construction  or suitable area for textiles and sewing machines, screen printers equipment, 3D Printers

  • Presentation – Interactive whiteboards, projectors, video & audio equipment for remote learning

Safe and secure storage of equipment is always factored into our classroom designs to ensure equipment can only be used by students when needed or removed by authorised staff.

Design & Technology Classroom – Storage Solutions

Storage is a key feature in the design of a design & technology classroom to ensure a clean and efficient working environment.

The clean and safe storage of media and materials  ensures that items are readily available during design and technology lessons.

We can provide specialist storage for a range of materials used in the course of lessons for study of GCSE, AS & A Level qualifications:

  • metals (ferrous, non-ferrous, alloys)

  • woods (hardwoods, softwoods, manufactured boards)

  • polymers (thermoplastics, thermoset polymers, elastomers)

  • papers and boards

  • composites

  • smart materials

  • modern materials

Just as if not more important is the safe storage of work and student portolios. Effective storage built into the classroom means that workspaces can be cleared of workpieces and materials can be put back into storage at the end of lessons ensuring that teaching time is not wasted.

We can design and manufacture bespoke storage wall/teaching wall solutions to suit your teaching requirements.

Academic Study & Qualifications

The key focus of our classrooms and furniture design is not just learning enjoyment, but also academic study. We try and ensure that the design can facilitate subject lessons from Key stage 3 and Key Stage 4 for Art, Craft and Design to enable students to reach their goals in either AQAOCRCCEAWJECSQA and Edexel GCSE, AS and A Level examinations.

Consultation with our design team ensures that your classrooms can be designed to suit a number of different disciplines in the Art & Design subject areas such as, but not limited to:

  • Fine Art

  • Graphic Communication

  • Textile Design

  • Three Dimensional Design

  • Photography

  • Critical & Contextual Studies

Showcase Art & Design Creations

By showcasing student work and creative pieces in the classroom you can inspire other students to develop their skills.

Showcasing has the added benefit of displaying the work to parents & guardians on open evenings.

As designers and manufacturers we can include show space into storage walls and teacher walls.
